What is your cancellation policy?
If you are unable to attend your appointment, you must contact Grove Physiotherapy within 24 hours. If you fail to do this you may be charged the full rate of the treatment session. Similarly, if you fail to attend without any notice you will be charged. Please note, if your treatment is covered by private health insurance or medico-legal companies, these charges may not be covered and you will be liable.
I have difficulty getting to the clinic. Are home visits available?
Home visits are available on request. We frequently treat people in the home for different reasons such as mobility problems and transport difficulties.
Do I need to be referred by my GP?
No, you may book an appointment to see a physiotherapist without consulting your GP. However, we work closely alongside GPs and often communicate with them regarding your care and progress.
Are you registered with Private Health Insurance Companies?
We are registered with all major medical insurance companies including BUPA, AXA PPP, Standard Life and Aviva (formerly Norwich Union). Ensuring you are covered however is your responsibility as any unsettled fees will be attributed to the patient.
How do I know that I am being treated by a qualified physiotherapist?
All qualified physiotherapists must be registered with the Health Professions Council by law in order to practice. You can check if your physiotherapist is registered on the HPC website (www.hpcheck.org).
Additionally, our physiotherapists are registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. This means that the clinicians are governed by a professional code of conduct and that all treatment is covered by professional liability insurance.
How do I know if physiotherapy will benefit my condition?
Physiotherapy can benefit a broad range of conditions (see conditions we treat). However, should our experienced clinicians feel that treatment is not appropriate, you will be informed at the initial assessment. Depending on the nature of the problem, we may be able to offer you advice on what the next step might be. For example, we have an excellent relationship with local GPs, consultants and other Health Professionals who may be able to assist your condition. We can also request scans, x-rays and injections if necessary.
Will I need to undress for treatment?
During your first assessment and following treatment sessions, we may require you to partially undress so that we can carry out a thorough assessment. Loose comfortable clothing is recommended for the convenience of yourself and the therapist. We respect individuals’ dignity at all times and you are welcome to bring a chaperone with you. You are also more than welcome to be treated by a female therapist if you prefer. For individuals under the age of 18, a chaperone is compulsory for the protection of the individual and the therapist.
